DHT is totally against hair follicles and this is why men and women tend to lose hair. DHT actually shrinks the follicles, and healthy hair cannot survive as a result. The hormonal change which converts the testosterone in your body into DHT takes place in both the sexes. In normal circumstances, women have very little testosterone, but even low levels of it can cause DHT and lead to hair loss. Hair loss may be triggered whenever there is an imbalance of hormones like thyroid hormone, pregnancy, certain medicines, and diseases. These hormones are also cyclical; testosterone levels in men will drop by almost 10% after they turn thirty. Likewise, hormones in women drop when they reach menopause.
Androgenetic alopecia treatment is sought by both men and women for thinning hair problems. The goal of this treatment is to boost hair growth and prevent the hair-thinning progress. However, prior to starting any treatment, you should get yourself checked by a reputed dermatologist. He will be able to assess the real causes for your hair loss. You may have to undergo some laboratory tests to support the diagnosis. Two main products recommended for treating alopecia are Finasteride and Minoxidil, but mind you, both of these may not work for everyone.
